One day later and all I see on social media are classic angry Maple Leaf fans pointing fingers. The main guys taking the blame are Babcock, Gardiner, Kadri and I even saw an article where buddy was calling out third and fourth liners. Dude, 3rd and 4th liners don’t win you Game 7’s.
You want to know who loses them? You. It’s you and only your fault Leafs fans. You wanna know why? It’s because for as long as I have been alive, fans in the Greater Toronto Area have only bad-mouthed the Leafs. How many Toronto fans did you hear say in a depressing monotone voice Tuesday night, “Game 7 tonight eh, yeah well I guess we’ll see how she goes”. Want to know what Bruins fans were saying? Absolutely nothing. They were chugging brews and yelling random syllables until it was made clear that they came to fuck shit up (major reference to Julian Edelman).
If Toronto Maple Leaf fans want to start winning playoff games then let’s stop blaming Drake and Bieber and start showing some confidence towards the boys in blue. Instead of jokingly re-tweeting old tweets from previous year’s saying ‘well there’s always next year’, why don’t you bring some pride next year instead. Also, this whole ‘Drake Curse’ or seeing Justin at a game and blaming him for a loss is a coward mentality, nut-up or shut-up.
This has gotten absolutely ridiculous. I even heard fans saying that they were doomed for Game 6 because it was an afternoon game and Toronto teams cannot win in the afternoon. Huh? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Or the classic ‘the league is fixed, they don’t want a Canadian team to win it’. That makes equally as little sense. All I hear are excuses before-hand to make up for the fact that you do not get behind your team in crunch time.
The second the Leafs were down 2-0 in Game 7 you could hear a pin-drop in the bar I was at. No passion, you could feel that everyone had already accepted defeat. Did you watch the late game that night? How about San Jose being down 3-0 in the third period and the crowd going berserk to help them rally back in an overtime win.
That’s the difference we’re seeing between a West Coast California team, compared to an Original Six Canadian team and it is flat out pathetic. You’re right Leaf fans somethings got to change, but it’s not Babcock, it’s your loser mentality.
